What the fare covers, what it doesn't, and how this itinerary actually runs.
Save the balcony money
7 port days and no sea day — you are ashore in daylight and asleep the rest. An interior cabin costs about $800 less per person, which is most of a shore excursion budget.
7 port days back to back
Early tenders and late returns, several days running, with no sea day to recover in. Pick the two ports you actually care about and let one of the others be a lie-in — the itinerary is not a checklist.
Day one and the last day are half-days
A 7-night cruise is really 6 full days. Boarding runs into the afternoon and you are off the ship early on the last morning.

The drinks package
Drinks packages typically range from around $65-100 USD per person, per day, including automatic service charges. Confirm the current price with your cruise line when booking.
Break-even: These packages usually become cost-effective if you plan to have 5-7 alcoholic drinks a day, or a mix of premium coffees, sodas, and alcoholic beverages. Each line defines what counts towards the package.
This package suits those who drink several alcoholic beverages daily and prefer not to track individual costs, but might not be cost-effective for light drinkers or those primarily consuming included beverages.
Gratuities
An automatic service charge, typically around $16-20 USD per person, per day, is usually added to your on-board account. Suite guests may see a slightly higher daily amount. These can often be prepaid or adjusted by speaking with guest services.
Wifi
Basic internet plans, suitable for checking emails and messaging, typically cost around $10-25 USD per day. Streaming or video calls usually require a more expensive premium package. Confirm current pricing and available plans with your specific cruise line.
Costs that surprise people
◆Specialty Dining. Restaurants beyond the main dining rooms and buffets often carry an additional cover charge or à la carte pricing, typically ranging from $25-60 USD per person.
◆Shore Excursions. Activities and tours arranged through the cruise line at port stops are an additional cost, with prices varying widely depending on the activity and duration.
◆Spa and Salon Services. Treatments like massages, facials, and hair services are not included in the base fare and are charged separately.
◆Premium Drinks. Beverages beyond water, basic coffee, and tea, such as sodas, specialty coffees, alcoholic drinks, and fresh juices, are generally extra without a drinks package.
◆Gift Shop Purchases. Souvenirs, clothing, toiletries, and other items bought in the on-board shops are charged to your account.
◆Casino and Arcade. Any gambling in the casino or games in the arcade are additional expenses charged to your on-board account.
Ways to spend less
◆Book Packages Before Sailing. Drinks, WiFi, and specialty dining packages are often offered at a reduced rate if purchased online before embarkation, rather than on board.
◆Bring Allowed Beverages. Many cruise lines permit passengers to bring a limited quantity of non-alcoholic beverages or a single bottle of wine per adult on board, subject to their policy. Check the line's current rules.
AI-written guidance, not a quote. Prices and policies change and vary by sailing — confirm anything that matters with the cruise line before you book.
◆Eat at Included Venues. Stick to the main dining rooms and buffet restaurants, which are covered by your fare, to avoid extra charges from specialty dining.
◆Go Ashore Independently. Research and plan your own activities in port instead of booking cruise line excursions, which can often be more expensive.
◆Utilize Free Drinks. Make use of the complimentary water, iced tea, basic coffee, and juices typically available in the buffet or main dining rooms.
◆Limit WiFi Usage. Consider purchasing WiFi only for specific times you need it, or wait to connect at free hotspots in port, rather than buying a continuous package.
